About Us

Our Mission Statement

Wiffa aims to bring together in unity all people of Caribbean Origin who have a particular interest in Caribbean issues both in the United Kingdom and in the Caribbean.

Our Aims

  • The Association is established to promote the welfare, provide support, advice and educate members of the African Caribbean community who are of West Indian descent.
  • The Association will work with youths whose parents are of West Indian descent to combat Drug and Alcohol misuse.
  • The Association will work with African Caribbean people of West Indian descent who are over 50s.
  • The Association will promote good fellowship and cultural activities beneficial to its members and their families and friends.
  • The Association will fundraise to support the social welfare needs of its members, particularly where financial support will redress the problem.

Our Objectives

    In furtherance of these aims the Association :-
  • Employ and pay any person or persons to supervise, organise and carry on the work of the Association.
  • Work with other voluntary, statutory, health and other agencies to provide good quality service to its members.
  • Take up issues which affect its members well being and welfare.
  • Bring together in conference representatives of voluntary organisations, government departments, statutory authorities and individuals.
  • Promote and carry out or assist in promoting and carrying out research, surveys and investigations and publish the useful results thereof.
  • Arrange exhibitions, meetings, lectures, classes, seminars and training courses for members and interest groups and individuals.
  • Collect and disseminate information on all matters affecting the aims of the Association and exchange such information with other bodies having similar aims whether in this country or overseas.
  • Subject to such consents as may be required by law sell, let, mortgage, dispose of or turn to account all or any of the property assets of the Association.
  • Subject to such consents as may be required by law, borrow or raise money for the said aims and accept gifts on such terms and on such security as shall be deemed necessary.
  • Raise funds, invite, and receive contributions from any person or persons whosoever, by way of subscriptions and otherwise provided that the Association shall not undertake permanent trading activities in raising funds for the said aims
  • Invest the monies of the Association for the said aims or upon such investments, securities or property as may be thought fit, subject nevertheless to such conditions (if any ) as may for the time being be imposed or required by law.
  • Enter into a partnership bid, tender for a contract of service and sub contract services to agencies and other voluntary organisations as may be necessary to further the aims of the Association.
